My reassessment of the war

We're almost 11 months into territory where all three consoles have been out, and my mind has been completely changed.

Last November I was stoked for my Wii. Wii sports was amazing, Zelda was fun, and we had great games coming out soon! Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Brawl, and Mario Galaxy were all going to be out in June! How could things go wrong?

Paper Mario was a good game, I'll give it that, but it wasn't truly spectacular. Metroid Prime 3 was good in the beginning, but after making the mistake of going back and playing Metroid Prime the Wii title just didn't feel right. I ended up trading it in after getting the Ice Missiles. Brawl and Galaxy aren't out yet, but for Nintendo's sake I hope they're spectacular.

(And yes im leaving out other good games like RE4 and Strikers Charged, but Strikers gets old fast when Nintendo's wireless system sucks ass and has broken on me countless times and RE4 was a remake with even worse controls in my opinion.)

My view on the PS3 hasn't changed, still think it's a waste of money until the market decides if Blu-ray or HD will be used for movies primarily from now on. Not to mention Sony needs to get its ass together on the game library.

My view on the 360 has changed completely though. My first ever assesment of it was based on Call of Duty 2. A friend of mine kept boasting how great of a game it was and how the graphics were amazing, but my PC could run Half-Life 2 looking better so I was skeptical. After Bioshock, Skate, Blue Dragon, Halo 3 Multiplayer, and several others my mind has been changed. Those are four of the best games I have seen lately and are much better than any game that's come out for Wii since...well ever. Not to mention Online with the 360 actually works well (and they have headsets.) LIVE is an amazing online system. Sure it costs $8 a month if you buy it per month, but that's less than any other online service out there worth having. I'm paying more for WoW right now. Achievements are wonderful as well. It gives you more to do in games, opens up new challenges, and gives a reason for what you're doing. You're no longer just beating a game to beat it, you're also getting achievements to up your gamer score and increase the size of your e-penis. Steam embraced the achievement system with the Orange Box and I personally have enjoyed the games from the Orange Box a lot more since. Gives me a reason to play through games like Portal a second time (which is amazing, no matter what platform it's for get the Orange Box.)

So here is my new rank of options avaliable to play your video games (excluding hand helds, for all purposes of this thread hand helds can suck it):
4 - Playstation 3
3 - Wii
2 - Xbox 360
1 - PC

On my PC I can play WoW, enjoy steam which is as close as you can get to LIVE without paying, use LIVE for windows (which is the same account as LIVE for 360, $8 a month and you get BOTH), game with a keyboard and mouse, game with a 360 controller, play retro games via ROMs (on 360 controller Wink

), and much more. But since this is console wars, my final decison would have to be:

live dont cost 8 dollars a month!!! if thats the case then it would really cost 96 bucks a year! but its like 49.99 per year!!

It does if you get it 1 month at a time via live cards. And that's the most expensive it could be. If I got a 360 with LIVE I would do it in 3 months at the minimum, and with cards I believe it's $20 for a 3 month card. Pretty sure full year cards are $50.

My point of mentioning $8 was just because that is the absolute most expensive it can be and im currently paying $15 a month for WoW. That's $180 a year and I still pay it.

ugh... why remind me man!!!

i have EQ1 and EQ2 and Wow and UO all are around the 15 dollars per month lol.

and my live is 50 per year..

i cant wait for all the new rpg's hitting the 360, especially the MMORPG's
